Lisa Jackert has been writing and arranging songs as a church musician and music therapist since 1988. Her interest in song-writing came from her early work, with the 12 step community which inspired her to write songs that promoted the philosophy and affirmations consistent with recovery. She has also been a frequent speaker at national and international music therapy and other mental health related conferences. Lisa has worked with adults and older adults struggling with: mental health issues, substance abuse, eating disorders, and mind/body work. She has also worked with wellness programs using drumming and community singing.
In 2007 she became a founding member of the Daughters of Harriet, an acapella women’s group. With them she has two recordings and a songbook, “You are a Song” and “From the Heart.” A classically trained singer, as well, she has sung professionally with the St. Louis Chamber Choir and as soprano section leader and soloist for many churches. She has recently released her solo CD, “Salt and Sweet.” Her songs are an eclectic mix of rock, folk, and blues with insightful reflective and spiritual themes. Lisa is known for giving dynamic performances that get the audience involved as she believes that the power of music should be a shared community experience.
