AudAbility: Voice for People with Parkinson’s increases quality and volume of the voice. In this highly interactive program participants engage in mindfulness exercises, physical warm-ups, and vocal warm-ups to prepare the body and mind for active music making through singing and musical instrument play. Music therapy, an engaging, interactive, goal-focused and fun therapy, has been shown to be an effective tool in improving cognitive, speech, motor, and social skills as well as increasing quality of life for People with Parkinson’s and their Care Partners. At MusicWorx, we offer several music therapy programs for People with Parkinson’s and their Care Partners to meet varying needs and abilities. On top of the many group programs that MusicWorx offers, there are also opportunities to take private harmonica, piano, vocal, guitar, and ukulele lessons that are adapted based on individual learning style, ability, and need.

Cassandra Richtsmeier, MT–BC

Cassandra is the current AudAbility Voice music therapist with collegiate vocal training, experience with facilitating in-person and virtual classes, and is an intern placement mentor. She serves a variety of populations including adult inpatient medical hospital, people with Parkinson’s Disease, older adult with memory care needs, and teens in mental health. Cassandra is honored to help people with Parkinson’s to strengthen their voices and continue to live their lives out loud.
