All MusicWorx Toolbox Self-Study Courses are approved by the CBMT for 15 Continuing Music Therapy Education ( CMTE ) credits. MusicWorx Inc., #P-097, maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT policies and criteria.
Barbara Reuer, PhD, MT–BC, has worked in the music therapy field for more than 40 years. She is the founder of MusicWorx Inc., an agency which provides music therapy and consulting services. MusicWorx is an American Music Therapy Association ( AMTA )-compliant provider of music therapy services. The MusicWorx team comprises close to 13 board-certified therapists and music therapy interns.
Barbara served as President of the National Association for Music Therapy and continues to be involved with AMTA. Between 1997 and the end of 2016, the site will have trained and graduated almost 180 music therapy interns. Barbara also has advanced training in several applicable areas of the music therapy field. In 2008, Dr. Reuer received the Lifetime Achievement Award from AMTA. In the event of selecting another course instructor, MusicWorx Inc. hereby agrees to confirm the candidate(s) are aptly qualified according to the following criteria:
After purchasing the CMTE course, complete the assignments as outlined in the MusicWorx Toolbox Self-Study Course package. You may complete the assignments at your own pace. There is no time limit for submitting paperwork, however, you will not receive the CMTE credit until all paperwork is turned into MusicWorx.
You will submit the following documents from your CMTE package:
Keep a copy of all CMTE submissions in the event of loss during transit. You can email the CMTE package to Dr. Reuer at breuer@musicworxinc.com or mail it Barbara Reuer, 10650 Treena St., Ste. 111, San Diego, CA 92131. If you have any questions, contact Barbara Reuer. If you do not have email access, please leave a voicemail for Barbara at (858) 457–2201. Be certain to leave your name and phone number, and remember to speak slowly and clearly.
MusicWorx will email an electronic PDF of the CMTE credit certificate within a week of package submission date. CMTE credits are awarded during the same month as the package postmark date. If you need a hard copy, please notify us.
For example, if you submit your package on January 10, you can list the CMTE credits for that course on your CMTE reporting form as being awarded on January 10. Assignment packages must be submitted by December 31 for the credits to be awarded in December of that year. Holidays that fall on the last day of the month do not delay the awarding of credits. If December 31 occurs on a postal holiday, packages must be submitted on or before December 30. Credits will be awarded in the month the package is postmarked. No exceptions.
MusicWorx Toolbox Self-Study Courses have no prerequisites or limitations of participation. Courses will be accessible to participants with disabilities and may be completed in the environment of the participants’ choice. The attainment of the participants’ MusicWorx Toolbox Self-Study Course learning objectives will be documented in the written assignments and evaluation forms submitted to MusicWorx Inc., when applying for CMTE credit. Assignments are graded on a pass or fail basis. Participants are allotted one opportunity to correct unsatisfactory work.
If you find a MusicWorx Toolbox Self-Study Course to be unsatisfactory, you may contact MusicWorx Inc. within 14 days of receipt to request a refund.
All information received from the study course participants will be treated as confidential information. MusicWorx Inc. will protect the legal, professional, and personal rights of all participants. Records, assignments, and written materials will be secured according to the CBMT guidelines. Participants may change the names of individuals or mark through names to ensure confidentiality.
Participants in any MusicWorx Toolbox Self-Study Course have the right to file a grievance.
Participants must provide written documentation of the complaint, outline the problem as perceived, and state the preferred solution. Mail the grievance letter to MusicWorx Inc., 10650 Treena Street Suite 111, San Diego, CA 92131. Once the grievance letter is received, Dr. Reuer will review the information and then respond in writing within 14 days of receipt of the grievance letter. If you disagree with the resolution of the grievance, you have the right to appeal the decision. State the reasons for your appeal in a letter and mail it to MusicWorx Inc., and the appeal will be reviewed and responded to in writing within 14 days of receipt. If the grievance still is not resolved satisfactorily, you have the right to ask the CBMT Continuing Education Committee to address the unresolved grievance.
