MusicWorx is happy to announce that we are looking to add another full-time Board-Certified music therapist to our clinical team!

MusicWorx Background Information:

Founded in 1987, MusicWorx is a music therapy and wellness agency whose mission is to create, cultivate and celebrate experiences of unlimited growth and potential.

We are an innovative, established music therapy agency that serves children and adults with neuro-divergent, medical, and mental health needs in clinics, schools, hospitals, and community settings throughout the greater San Diego area. MusicWorx is a compliant AMTA-provider of music therapy services

Positions Available:

  • Full-Time Employee (benefits-eligible)

All positions are primarily clinical but will require documentation, travel, and organization assistance as needed.

Location:

The company’s executive office is located near Del Mar in north coastal San Diego County, California.  Music therapists may provide services throughout San Diego County.  Mileage reimbursement is provided between client locations.

Start Date:

We are hiring immediately, with flexibility for start date.

The Right Candidates:

  • Has a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy or equivalent.
  • Carries the music therapy credential, MT-BC.
  • Two years’ experience as a music therapist is preferable.
  • Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) is preferable.
  • Is passionate about working in a variety of settings including as follows: development and rehabilitation settings; adult hospital setting, with children and adults with special needs, as well as with older adults within a relationship-centered, patient-centered framework.
  • Is a skilled clinical musician, strong in voice, guitar, piano, and drumming.
  • Enjoys a variety of clientele and clinical settings.
  • Wants to contribute to the field of music therapy.
  • Has an interest in product and program development.
  • Is a dependable, responsible team player.
  • Is committed to advocating for our profession at the regional and national level.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has comfort and familiarity with Google products (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and GDrive).
  • Has a valid driver’s license and access to insured and reliable transportation.
  • Has interpersonal skills that excel in cultural sensitivity and respect for differences.
  • Can successfully complete a background check, TB test, drug test, and COVID test (required by the hospitals and older adult facilities).
  • Has a desire to be part of a fun and dynamic team of music therapists!!
  • The job requires sitting, standing, bending, driving, and lifting instruments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Music Therapy:
    • Working with a variety of clients in multiple settings, including:
      • Neurodiverse and neurodivergent individuals of all ages
      • IEP-based school services
      • Rehabilitation groups
      • Beside work in hospital/hospice settings
      • Older adults (memory care, assisted living, hospice settings)
    • Facilitate both group and individual sessions.
    • Document impact on a regular and timely basis.
    • Music Wellness & Events: Conduct special events such as drum circles, memorial services, community events, presentations, etc.
  • Facilitate business growth through networking and customer service.
  • Time Commitment: Hours vary Monday – Saturday and may include occasional evenings
  • Additional tasks may be assigned based on agency needs.
  • Attend and participate in event-related activities and meetings as requested.
  • Exercise good judgment and confidentiality in dealing with staff, clients, and the community.

Reporting Relationships:  Supervised by the Senior Director of Programs, and program manager(s).

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation – $25-32/hour, depending on education and experience.
  • Health, dental, vision insurance (optional)
  • CBMT dues
  • Stipend towards continuing education, regional/national conferences, and/or AMTA membership
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Provision of zoom meeting and phone app
  • Provision of either a company laptop or tablet
