Positions Available: Board-Certified Music Therapist

MusicWorx is happy to announce that we are looking to add two Board-Certified music therapists to our clinical team!

MUSICWORX BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Founded in 1987, MusicWorx is a music therapy and wellness agency whose mission is to create, cultivate and celebrate experiences of unlimited growth and potential.

We are an innovative, established private practice that serves children and adults with developmental, neurological, medical, and mental health needs in clinics, schools, hospitals, and corporate and community settings throughout the greater San Diego area. MusicWorx is both an AMTA-compliant provider of music therapy services and an AMTA-approved clinical training site for degreed music therapists working toward national board certification. Part of this position could include some assignments with our sister nonprofit agency, Resounding Joy.

RESOUNDING JOY BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Barbara Reuer founded Resounding Joy in 2004 and has guided the organization’s growth from a group of volunteers with a closet of instruments to San Diego’s primary nonprofit provider of music therapy. Resounding Joy serves the community through three core programs designed for underserved populations: Semper Sound, Mindful Music, and Healing Notes.

  • Semper Sound is devoted to military service member rehabilitation and transition to civilian
  • Mindful Music trains volunteers to use recreational and supportive music with seniors of all
  • Healing Notes improves medical outcomes and quality of life for children struggling with severe or life- limiting

 

POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

  • Full Time Employee (benefits-eligible)
  • Part Time Employee (with potential to expand to full time)

All positions are primarily clinical but will require documentation, travel, and organization assistance as needed. Employment will be with the company where the staff member is providing the most hours, with additional hours supplemented by the sister agency.

LOCATION:

The company executive office is located near Del Mar in north coastal San Diego County, California. Music therapists may provide services throughout San Diego County. Mileage reimbursement is provided between client locations.

START DATE:

The start date for this position is October 21, 2019, or sooner.

 THE RIGHT CANDIDATE:

  • Has a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Has a minimum of one year in experience (two years preferred).
  • Is passionate about working in an adult hospital setting, with children and adults with special needs, as well as with older adults within a relationship-centered, patient-centered
  • Is a skilled clinical musician, strong in voice, guitar, piano and
  • Enjoys a variety of clientele and clinical
  • Wants to contribute to the field of music
  • Has an interest in product and program
  • Is a dependable, responsible team
  • Is committed to advocating for our profession at the regional and national
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication
  • Can successfully complete a background check, TB test, and drug
  • Comfort and familiarity with Google products (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, and GDrive).
  • Has reliable
  • Has interpersonal skills that excel in cultural sensitivity and respect for
  • Wants to be a part of a fun and dynamic team of music

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clinical Music Therapy:
    • Working with a variety of clients in a variety of settings, primarily:
      • Older adults
      • Neurodevelopment (children, teens, and adults)
      • Mental health (behavioral disorders/substance abuse)
      • Medical (pediatric and adult/in-home and hospitals
  • Facilitate both group and individual sessions
  • Document impact on a regular and timely basis
  • Intern Supervision: Provide mentorship and guidance to MusicWorx interns during services and through personal
  • Facilitate business growth through networking and customer service
  • Attend and participate in event-related activities and meetings as
  • Exercise good judgment and confidentiality in dealing with volunteers, donors, and
  • Time Commitment: Hours vary. Occasional weekend work may be required.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Supervised by CEO-designated Senior Leadership Team member
