The ability to compose compelling proposals is a useful and highly marketable business skill. Applying for scholarships is excellent training.

Diverse MusicWorx training experiences, provided by multiple special-populations health facilities, offer interns outstanding opportunities to meet scholarship requirements. As of 2010, MusicWorx interns have applied for and received a total of $36,000 in scholarships and grants for internship, research, and business building.

The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) maintains a list of application requirements for the following scholarships:

  • $500 Edwina Eustis Dick Scholarship for Music Therapy Interns
  • $500 E. Thayer Gaston Writing Competition
  • $500 Brian and Cathy Smith Memorial Fund

AMTA scholarship web pages are accessible only to registered members of AMTA. Both undergraduate and graduate students may purchase an annual nonvoting AMTA membership for $70.
